Q:  Who is your favourite Lord of Pain and why? Ben

A: Hi, Ben.  It's hard to decide which is my favourite Lord of Pain.  I can't really choose between them because they're all equally nasty and vicious, and they were all equally fun to write.

The Lord of the Void wears cool armour, and he can teleport, so he's quite exciting.  The Lord of Tears is also pretty cool, the way he can bend his body like chewing gum and zip from spot to spot at super fast speed.

But the Lord of Fire is probably the one I like the most, just because he's the biggest villain of the lot.  He's so evil and full of deceit, he makes the other four look like boy scouts!

Q: I hear you are coming to Rossett School. John

A: I was planning to visit Rossett School in February, John, but unfortunately, for various reasons the event didn't happen.
I love Harrogate, though.  A good friend of mine used to live there, and I often went to stay with him.  The big old Victorian houses, the Stray, Betty's Tea Rooms, the moors ... wonderful.

Q:  Is there any chance you might like to visit Hong Kong? Janet

A: I'd love to visit Hong Kong, Janet.  Especially if someone else paid for me to fly out there first class and stay at the Peninsula Hotel.  I believe that's the most expensive hotel in the city.  If you happen to know any millionaires who are feeling generous...

A friend of mine took a job in Hong Kong for a couple of years and had a great time there.  The only thing he complained about was the heat in summer.  He said he nearly drowned in his own sweat.  I think he was exaggerating.

Many of the all-time-great martial arts movies were made in Hong Kong, so that's another reason I'd like to go there.  I've seen the harbour and the skyline in so many kung fu films that I feel like I know the city already.

I regret to say that in my latest adult novel, The Age Of Zeus, Hong Kong suffers a terrible fate.  It gets destroyed completely by the Greek gods!  Sorry.

Q: Who do you think is the most cruel and viscious of the 5 Lords? Alex

A: Hi Alex! Good question.  I'd have to say the most cruel and vicious of the Five Lords of Pain is probably the Lord of the Typhoon.

All five of the arch-demons are cruel and vicious in different ways.  But unlike the others, the Lord of the Typhoon doesn't mess about.  He gets straight down to beating Tom up.  He doesn't stand around talking.  He doesn't waste time dissing Tom and boasting about himself.  The duel starts before Tom even realises it's started, and several times in the first minute Tom nearly gets killed. Having said all that, the Lord of Fire is really the nastiest of the lot.  You'll have to wait until Book 4 to find out why.

And yes, that isn't a misprint.  I know Book 5 has the title The Lord of Fire, but I did mean Book 4.  You'll see...
